Top Ten New Series Daisy Wants To Start


For future Top Ten Tuesday topics & info on how to participate, click here!

OMG, where to start with this topic?? I actually have a whole shelve on Goodreads dedicated to all the new series that I want to start and it has WAY more than 10 series on it...

1. The Winner's Curse (Winner's Trilogy) by Marie Rutkoski: I've heard REALLY great things about this book and should definitely get started on the first book soon!

2. Also Known As (Also Known As) by Robin Benway: This just sounds like a super fun series and I need a little light reading every now and then.

3. Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms) by Morgan Rhodes: treacherous betrayals and secret alliances sound like my kind of thing always. Also: the cover is so pretty!

4. Venom (Secrets of the Eternal Rose) by Fiona Paul: it's about Renaissance Venice!! Also, Fiona Paul is awesome, I loved The Art of Lainey she wrote under the penname Paula Stokes.

5. Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin) by Robin LaFevers: ASSASSIN NUNS!!! Also, my friend Mel raves about this series, soooo....

6. The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus) by Rick Riordan: I still can't believe I haven't started this series yet. The only good thing about it is that by the time this TTT goes live, the last book will be released and I can just BINGE my way through it. Hopefully.

7. The Warrior Heir (Heir Chronicles) by Cinda Williams Chima: I LOVED her Seven Realms series and I need more of Cinda Williams Chima's writing in my life.

8. The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard) by Scott Lynch: I love a good fantasy and I've heard AMAZING things about this series, so I need in on the action.

9. Outlander (Outlander) by Diana Gabaldon: I love historical fiction and this sounds SO good! And also, I want to read the book before I can watch the TV series and I keep hearing all these things about Jamie being total eyecandy, so I need to read this obviously so I can go on to ogle him.

10. Sabriel (Abhorsen) by Garth Nix: I really want to expand my knowledge of fantasy novels beyond what has been released over the last 5 years, and I've heard this series is basically a must read.

  2. There are so many books on here that I should have put on my list! Grave Mercy made mine this week, but I totally should have added The Warrior Heir and The Winner's Curse. And I can not tell you how extremely lots I think Lies of Locke Lamora and Sabriel are. Like really. For real. A LOT.

  4. Ooh yes I want to read The Winner's Curse too. I'm a bit scared of The Lies of Locke Lamora but I've heard great things so I might try it. I find fantasy a bit hit and miss sometimes. I do also want to read Outlander but it's so long and I don't do well with historical fiction a lot of the time so I'm hoping it's more along the lines of Game of Thrones really.

  6. I also really want to read Locke Lamora and the rest of the series - I didn't add it to my series because I had to cut mine down and I only added completed series. But YES to that one!

  7. you NEED to read Grave Mercy - one of my top 5 series in the last few years

    re: Outlander - I'm a huge fan, but also acknowledge it takes a while to get going because it is so detailed - if you can make it about 1/2 way through, it picks up in pace

  12. Great List!! The Winner's Curse made my list as well. I'm reading the second book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series with my son now. Once we finish this series we plan on reading The Heroes of Olympus.

  13. Ah you have to get started on The heroes of Olympus! It's multiple pov and Riordan did a stellar job representing a diverse cast of characters! I've read Grave Mercy and it's a good read too.

  27. I'm so glad I'm not the only YA fan who hasn't read the Sabriel/Abhorsen series! I have the first three books, so there's no excuse for me.
    I've read and reread Outlander so many times that I practically know it by heart, but I've still never made it through the second book, Dragonfly in Amber. It's just not that high a priority on my list, especially since the books in that series are so huge. I always feel like I could read DiA, or I could read an entire trilogy by another author. Decisions, decisions.

  28. I'm glad to see that Daisy didn't stick with the "New..let's say within the last year or two" part of the prompt either. While there are any number of new series being written, I find that there are *SO MANY* older series that I've never read. For example, even though I'm a big fan of fantasy, I've never read Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, or Game of Thrones. And I didn't even include *those* in my own Top Ten list this week.   29. I read The Winner's Curse recently and it was really amazing! I was afraid of the hype but so glad I read it. And I looove Outlander! Read all 7 books in a 6 month span haha. If you love historical fiction I think you'll love it.

    I bought Also Known As recently at a book signing! It sounded cute! And personally I really didn't like Falling Kingdoms but a lot of people have. I just felt like I had read better fantasy trilogies.

  31. Awesome list! I haven't read any of these and I really need to! I loved the Percy Jackson series so much, and I can't see why I have delayed starting the Hero's of Olympus series. I think it might be because I am afraid it won't be as fabulous as the others. And I really want to started The Winner's Curse as well!
