Every other Thursday here at the Broke & The Bookish is A Cocktail & Conversation time. One of the TBTB members will pose a question to 2-3 of the other members of TB&TB crew about books, life, music, etc and then they'll answer and we can converse about it. So grab a cocktail & cozy up for some conversation. It's 5 o'clock somewhere, friends.
Jana asks: Which bookish character reminds you the most of yourself?
Jamie says: Great question! A lot of times I'll see little bits and pieces of myself in different characters (Jessica Darling) but most recently I really saw a lot of myself in Allyson/Lulu in Gayle Forman's Just One Day. I just seriously GOT her in so many ways.
Paula says: Definitely Hermione Granger. I have always been and always will be the person who finished their assignments early and hung out with her textbooks. And maybe if I wish hard enough to be her... I'll suddenly find that my purse is bottomless!
What about you guys? Which characters remind you a bit of yourself?
Loved this post! Such an interesting topic!ReplyDelete
Morag Gunn from Margaret Laurence's The Diviners. Reading that book was like looking in the mirror...ReplyDelete
TS Spivet from The Selected Works of TS Spivet. He's methodical, a planner, and a bit quirky. And according to my husband afflicted with a tinge of Aspergers, but we won't go there!ReplyDelete
I've read this question before... I never could think of anyone who was like me. It's a tough question. I like Stephanie Plum... yes I know she is always getting in trouble. But I hope that my spirit is like hers!!ReplyDelete
Angela's Anxious Life
This is so great!!! I definitely have to agree with Paula... I love Hermione and can relate to her on many levels... even down to the poofy, thick, wavy, uncontrollable hair! What a great topic. Well done ladies!ReplyDelete
Anne from Persuasion. Our story was very similar. But I have Hermoine Hair too :)ReplyDelete
Jamie! I totally saw a lot of myself in Allyson too. There was something about her that I could immediately relate to, and understand. It felt like I was reading about my own journey in many ways.ReplyDelete
But overall, I think I'd be a lot like Anne from Anne of Green Gables. Her fierce imagination and her endless curiosity and the fact that she's pretty different from everyone... yeah. ;)
I'm like Paula- I see myself in Hermione Granger too! I read my biology book for my college bio class cover to cover. Even than chapters that weren't assigned. I remember being excited when I first read about Hermione. She made being studious and a complete book nerd cool! I never did go on as many adventures as Hermione though. She's braver than I am.ReplyDelete
