So this week we're talking about the best books you've read to so far in 2013! We're almost halfway through the year, I've read 63 books and some amazing ones I want to share with you guys! :)
More information about TTT and future topics can be found here
The Obvious Choices
The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson: because seriously, while I knew I would love this book, because this series is just plain awesome, I couldn't have asked for a better ending! Elisa and Hector and just ALL OF IT! GAH, SOMEONE READ THIS AND TALK TO ME ABOUT IT!
One Good Earl Deserves A Lover by Sarah MacLean: I love, love, LOVE Sarah MacLean's historical romance novels and this one totally made me smile! And swoon! And all of those good things! The heroine is just someone I could completely root for.
A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin: so Kelly's yelling at me finally worked and I picked up the fourth book in this series :) I love this series so much and though Martin loves to rip my heart out, I can't help but come back for more.
Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare: Tessa Dare is awesome and writes amazing historical romance that not only makes me swoon, but also makes me laugh out loud, and I LOVE that combination!
The Somewhat Unexpected Loves
Golden by Jessi Kirby: Holy wowza, I clicked 'read it' on PulseIt on a whim because I was bored at work, but OMG, I LOVED THIS BOOK! I cannot believe this wasn't on my PINING FOR list! Also: why has no one been yelling at me because I hadn't read this book yet?? Seriously!
Pretty Girl-13 by Liz Coley: So I thought the premise was pretty interesting, but this book was just AMAZING! It totally sucked me in and it was so intense!
Poison by Bridget Zinn: OMG, SO CUTE! I so loved this story and it had that Disney movie feel to it and was just fun and witty and I just loved every minute of reading it!
Pivot Point by Kasie West: I loved that there are two different paths for Addie's future and we get to see how each will play out and then she has to make a heartbreaking decision and it totally made me cry!!
The Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell: This right here is me pleading for Alex Lidell to write a sequel to the Cadet of Tildor because it was AWESOME!
Splintered by A.G. Howard: And this is me being deliriously happy because Splintered will have a sequel!! YAY MORE ALYSSA AND JEB AND MORPHEUS! This was such a beautiful retelling! And the cover is just gorgeous!
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken: This is one of the few dystopian novels I've loved in a LONG time and it was epic and compelling and HEARTBREAKING!
So, share any of my favourites? What's on your list that I definitely need to read soon?
Ok, because it is you Daisy I will officially put Golden on my TBR list...all your other choices I LOVE! Splintered and Cadet of Tildor!! Eep!! And Bitter Kingdom I cannot WAIT for!! :)
ReplyDeleteYES! READ IT!! I'm sure you will love it!! :D
DeleteYou're so lucky to have read The Bitter Kingdom! The Crown of Embers is on my list, as is Poison and The Darkest Minds. Splintered is so good!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
YES!! I know! I feel really lucky and OMG, Splintered is AWESOME!
DeleteFun topic! I really want to read Golden! :) My TTT: http://aliceinreaderland.com/2013/06/24/top13/
ReplyDeleteAlice @ Alice in Readerland
It's SO good!
DeleteHi! Joining in on the fun this week. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed The Bitter Kingdom. I still need to read The Crown of Embers!
GO READ IT! You won't regret it, promise!
DeleteGolden is definitely high on my list and Pivot Point ... it sounds so different than what I normally pick up to read but I keep hearing about it everywhere!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you set this one up. Can't believe we are halfway through the year already!
I know! Can't believe it either!
DeleteI'm the girl always wondering 'what if' so Pivot Point exploring exactly that question, worked perfectly for me :)
And go read Golden!!
PIVOT POINT is on my 'to read in the near future' list - I'm glad to hear that you liked it! YA sci-fi is something I'm trying to keep up with in 2013 (and failing at, truth be told!).
ReplyDeleteIt's not all that heavy on the sci-fi stuff, but it's very well done and I loved it!
DeleteThe Darkest Minds made my list too!! Love that book!! And I'm dying to read Splintered and Posion!! They look amazing!! Great list!!
ReplyDelete:D
DeleteThey are AWESOME! And the covers are so pretty!!
I've only read Golden off of this list - I also came across it on Pulse It, although it had been on my wishlist for a little while. I was worried it would be another teen sappy love saga, but it was really good! I'm glad you found it :)
ReplyDeleteI was worried it would turn out like that as well, but I'm so happy it wasn't sappy AT ALL! :D
DeleteGah, I REALLY need to read The Darkest Minds, Pivot Point, and Golden! Darkest Minds made my Top Ten Summer TBR list, so I'd really better get to that one soon, heh. I LOOOVED Splintered, too, but it didn't quite make my list this week. BARELY. It was a close one. ;)
ReplyDeleteYES YOU DO!
DeleteAnd haha, I end up NOT reading the books on my seasonal TBR list too many times to count ;)
WOW! What a great list! I still have yet to read George RR Martin yet and should get on top of that, I hear his books are phenomenal! :) I have seen the Cadet of Tildor around and have been meaning to pick up a copy to read, sounds like its something I'd like :) GREAT list again :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteGeorge R.R. Martin really knows how to write a sweeping, epic story and rip your heart out in the process :)
I want to try Pivot Point and Darkest Minds, then. :) and I have yet to start book 2 of GRRM next month!
ReplyDeletemy TTT
You should, they're awesome! :) And I'm both excited and scared for you because you are starting book 2 soon!
DeleteAugh! I'm so jealous of you for having read The Bitter Kingdom! I've got Crown of Embers on my list.
ReplyDeleteEEE! I hope you get to read it soon as well!!
DeleteI have Golden on my list, too! I love that book SO MUCH. And I didn't put The Darkest Minds, but the sequel, Never Fade, is on my list.
ReplyDeleteHooray! I'm reading it soonish! :) And Golden = love!
DeleteYour historical romance reads seem right up my alley. I'll definitely have to check them out!
ReplyDeleteI just love historical romance :)
DeleteI completely agree with you on The Cadet of Tildor! I had a review stop on the blog tour, and fell completely in love with it! I am definitely a cover person, and sad to say, I may not have picked up The Cadet if it weren't for the tour. I am soo glad I did! I guess it just proves the old saying right..."Never judge a book by it's cover!" LOL
ReplyDeleteI know! The cover is kinda 'meh', but the book is AMAZING!
DeleteI am kind of putting off reading George R.R. Martin's 3rd book. They are so big it takes me so much time to finish them. Still I love the series.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I tend to read them during vacations and such because they are worth taking the time for, but do take a long time to finish :)
DeleteI loved this topic! :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my post: http://prettylittlememoirs.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/top-ten-tuesday-books-that-ive-read-in.html?m=1
Thanks!
DeleteGreat top ten! Most of your books are still on my TBR list:)

ReplyDeleteI hope you'll like it!
DeleteYES TO PIVOT POINT AND GOLDEN :D They're awesome! And I really need to read The Darkest Minds, I just keep hearing awesome stuff about it. :) Nice list!
ReplyDeleteYES YOU DO! Go read it, it is MINDBLOWINGLY GOOD!
DeleteI am entirely convinced that I need to read Golden as soon as possible - I've heard such amazing things from so many different people!
ReplyDeleteYou really do! It definitely deserves the buzz!
DeleteI am going to have so much fun going through these to find new titles to add to my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteIt's what I love best about these lists! :)
DeleteAmazing list! That's exactly how Golden ended up on my list, it wasn't on my wishlist and I didn't think it would be my cup of tea but I loved it enough to go out and buy a copy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I can't believe I sort of booksnobbed Golden, it was so good!
DeleteI've heard so much about Golden and seen lots of good reviews. I'm going to check this out!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for recommending the historical fiction :)
I love recommending historical fiction :) And Golden :)
DeleteI have Golden awaiting me here! Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteAlways happy to get a little buzz out! :)
DeleteI've joined in for the first time this week :) Must try some George R R Martin as I keep hearing good things about his books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in! And you really should read his series, but guard your heart, he tries to rip it out and stomp on it often ;)
DeleteEveryone enthuses over Pivot Pivot, The Darkest Minds and Splintered. All of which I have not read yet! I hope this summer will help me get through my TBR pile - so I can read these books!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you'll love them as much as I did!!
DeleteYES to The Bitter Kingdom!!! I read the entire series this year and LOVED. I have Golden, Splintered and The Darkest Minds (and its sequel) on my shelf and clearly I need to start them asap.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
YAY! And you so need to read them!!
DeleteI haven't read Rae Carson yet, but I keep hearing how great her books are.
ReplyDeleteThey are!! Definitely one of my favourite series ever!
DeleteGreat list! Have added Golden to my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
DeleteGreat Choices, Pretty Girl-13 and is also on mine.
ReplyDeletePretty Girl-13 was so intense and SO GOOD!
DeleteI loved Darkest Minds but I couldn't get behind Splintered!
ReplyDeleteAwww, sad you didn't like Splintered, but yay for The Darkest Minds!
DeleteGreat list, just added mine. I really loved that you picked "Pivot Point" by Kasie West - I'm reading an ARC of "The Distance Between Us" right now and her writing is great, excited to check out "Pivot Point" now too!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'll have to see about getting my hands on The Distance Between Us!! :)
DeleteI just bought Golden because I have heard nothing but amazing things about. Can't wait till I have time to pick it up.
ReplyDeleteYAY! I hope you'll love it!!
Delete63 books! That's awesome. There's no way I could read that many in one year, though I wish I could.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
Haha, thanks! I don't really know how that happened either ;)
DeleteI haven't read any of these yet! From your list, I have a few new books to add to my TBR shelf. :-) Check out my TTT at http://ashleythebookjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/06/top-ten-tuesday-2.html
ReplyDeleteI always love discovering new books through TTT :)
DeletePivot Point made my list, too, and I keep meaning to read Golden - I just never seem to find the time. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
You will and when you do it will be GLORIOUS!
DeleteGreat list! Golden and Pivot Point made my list, too. I just checked out The Darkest Minds from the library, but haven't been able to get to it yet.
ReplyDeleteOooh, GO READ IT!
DeleteI can't wait to read The Darkest Minds! :)
ReplyDelete:) Be prepared to have your mind blown!
DeleteI'm totally reminded I need to read Golden, Pivot Point and Splintered! And I think I may have to start the Rae Carson series, because I've heard a lot of good things about it. Great list!
ReplyDeleteYou do need to read all of those, but read Rae Carson's series first! I can't recommend it enough!
DeleteGreat list! I don't know why I didn't read Golden. I saw it on Pulse It and everything... I'll have to fix that. :) So happy you enjoyed The Bitter Kingdom! I can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm sure you'll fix it :) And then it'll still be awesome!
DeleteGreat List. I haven't read any of them but many of them are on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteAhh that damn TBR... it'll never get smaller. ;)
Haha, no, probably not ;)
DeleteOoh! I've heard many great things about Golden and I can't wait to add to get my hands on it! Plus, the cover is really pretty!(:
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty!! :)
DeleteThis is my first time participating in this list. I just took a very reading-intensive Children's Lit class this semester, so all the books on my list are MG, children's, or picture books.
ReplyDeleteWelcome! I love reading MG every now and then :)
DeleteLots of fun to create this list...though I probably could have picked twenty!
ReplyDeleteHaha, ME TOO!
DeleteI just added Golden to my TBR. I adored The Bitter Kingdom. So incredibly satisfying. I hope Carson has a long prolific writing career. Have you read any of the prequels?
ReplyDeleteME TOO!! It was such a satisfying ending to the series!! I haven't read the prequels, did you? I'm not much of a novella reader, but I may need to give them a try.
DeleteI just a added Golden to my TBR. I adored The Bitter Kingdom. I hope Carson has a long prolific writing career. Have you read any of the prequels?
ReplyDeleteSplintered made my list, too! It was super amazing! Pretty-Girl 13 was close to making mine also, but I chose other 4.5 star reads over it.
ReplyDeleteHere's Mine @ Pinkindle Reads & Reviews
Glad you enjoyed both! Splintered was SO GOOD! I could have stayed lost in Wonderland FOREVER!
DeleteGreat list! Glad to see you liked A Feast for Crows. I wasn't sure I'd like it when I read it because most of my favorite characters were absent, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and it gave me a much healthier respect for some of the characters it did cover, like Brienne. Before book 4 she was only meh. Now I totally love her and her story line. :D
ReplyDeleteBrienne is one of my favourite characters :) I love that she got her own chapters in book 4! I love how George R.R. Martin even makes me care for the characters I HATED at the beginning, namely Jaime.
DeleteI haven't heard of "The Darkest Minds" before, but I think I'm going to go take a look at getting myself a copy. That might be right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it!!
DeleteYES! Any Duchess Will Do was wonderful! SO MANY FEELS. ♥ I haven't read that Sarah MacLean yet, but it's on my TBR list. Same with The Cadet of Tildor. Although I may wait for the sequel to come out, so I can read them back-to-back. :)
ReplyDeleteI KNOW!!! :D You'll love One Good Earl Deserves A Lover! Pippa is adorable :)
DeleteI'm so hoping there will be a sequel to the Cadet of Tildor!
Great list!! Okay, am adding GOLDEN. I haven't heard anything about this one until now, but if everyone else is raving, I'm game.
ReplyDeleteOh and Sarah MacLean? She's amazing. I so agree with you
She really is!!
DeleteAnd Golden definitely deserves all the buzz it's getting! :)
The Darkest Minds is on my list as well!
ReplyDeleteBecause it is so awesome!!
DeleteWow! exciting list. Gushes all over. I haven't read any of these, so I'll have to check them out. I'm starting with Golden -- which, based on today's popularity, seems like the book I've been looking for all year.
ReplyDeleteGushing about books is the best kind of gushing :) I hope you enjoy Golden!!
DeleteAgreed. I started reading Golden today, so far it's great thank you.
DeleteI recently bought The Darkest Minds and I can't wait to start it!!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT- http://angelica-2009.blogspot.com/2013/06/top-ten-tuesday-10.html
Yay!! I hope you'll love it as much as I did!
DeleteGolden was awesome! I haven't read any of the other books on your list.
ReplyDeleteIt really was!!
DeleteThe Darkest Minds is so good! Always so happy when people love it. I've been hearing so much buzz about Golden, I might have to check it out now.
ReplyDeleteThis is why my To-Read list is out of control--TTT. But I love it, anyway.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Splintered is the only one on your list that I've read (and it made my honorable mentions), but several others are on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI'm still not over The Darkest Minds. I probably never will be.
ReplyDeleteGreat list. I have the same relationship with George R.R. Martin.
ReplyDeleteThese top 10 lists are so bad for my pocketbook :) I haven't read any of those on your lists but will definitely be adding a few of them to the WL.
ReplyDeleteI want to start the Rae Carson series this summer. Poison was adorable, Game of Thrones is an addiction, and Darkest Minds was a disappointment for me. I have a signed copy of Pretty Girl-13 at home just waiting for me to start, but for some reason I am nervous about it. Great list! http://wp.me/pzUn5-1yN
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't read any of these! I'll definitely have to check them out, especially The Darkest Minds and the Rae Carson books. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the books here! I definitely need to, The Darkest Minds and the Rae Carson ones sound especially great. Awesome list!
ReplyDeleteI've only heard of two of the books on your list!
ReplyDeleteI've put off reading One Good Earl Deserves a Lover for some time now because I wanted to re-read MacLean's A Rogue By Any Other Name first because my memory of it is a little fuzzy. That said, I'm so excited to read Pippa'a story. She stole every scene she was in in the first novel of the series and I can't wait to see the sparks fly between Pippa and Cross!
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again: Tessa Dare's Spindle Cove novels are so special because she infuses them with a humour and wit that is relatively unparalleled in the genre. The opening scene in A Night To Surrender has to be one of the funniest and most memorable I've ever encountered in a historical romance novel, and I can't wait to read the newest installation in the series!
I am so excited to read Jessi Kirby's Golden. It was on my TTT list last week of one of the ten books I most want to read this summer. After absolutely adoring both Moonglass and In Honor, I have no doubt I'll fall head-over-heels for Golden as well. I'm so happy to see you loved it too!
Thanks for the suggestions - I'll have to add them to my GoodReads list!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! And this was my first TTT. Fun fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! This was my first TTT. Fun fun!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the books on your list, but The Bitter Kingdom is on my list!
ReplyDeleteJoining this link up! thanks!
ReplyDeleteOhhh Poison and The Cadet of Tildor made my list too! I loved them both so much...which is why I am a huge fan of the Debut Authors Challenge, it gives me a chance to find new authors and books I adore :)
ReplyDeleteYou always have an interesting list of books. I'm glad you enjoyed your reading. kelley—the road goes ever ever on
ReplyDeleteI'm so behind of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, I've only read the first two books!
ReplyDeleteSarah
Love this topic, I hope it'll happen later this year as well! And love the list, most of them I can't wait to read. You've had a great 2013 so far!
ReplyDeleteLove your list! I have One Good Earl on my list too and have been wanting to read Golden.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Poison is on my TTT, too :) I still need to read the rest.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get around to reading the George R R Martin books - the world and his dog has been poking me to read them and Game Of Thrones has been sitting there in my TBR pile for forever... it just never gets picked up.. maybe I ought to!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get round to reading the George R R Martin books - the world and his dog has been poking at me forever to read them. Game Of Thrones has been sitting on my TBR pile for about the same length of time but somehow never seems to manage to get to the top of it
ReplyDeleteI've seen Golden and Pretty Girl-13 a lot. I'm going to have to check those out!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for The Darkest Minds! :D
ReplyDeleteooh i forgot about one good earl. that was a good one and i love sarah maclean. i have seen golden on a lot of lists as well. think i am going to have to get that one soon.
ReplyDeleteWow! So many books! I'm only at 21.
ReplyDeleteI have Splintered and Darkest Minds, but I haven't read them yet. The others I am not familiar with, but you have a good assortment.
ReplyDeleteTammy @ Bo's Book Nook
I put mine up twice. =( Can you delete the second time!
ReplyDeleteCatching up just in the nick of time! It's still Tuesday in some parts of the world, right? Hee. :D
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read A Feast for Crows too but-- I have to finish the second book first! Haha! I'm stuck halfway through. :))
Here's my list: http://lynaireads.luigiandlynai.net/2013/06/top-ten-books-ive-read-so-far-in-2013/
I haven't read any of the books on your list--thanks for pointing me in the direction of some new books to read! I posted a list on my blog, too; check it out!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I really need to read The Darkest Minds already. I have it on myself, but I just have yet to find the time to read it.
ReplyDeleteHere is my Top Ten Tuesday
I want to read splintered so badly!!!
ReplyDeleteI know it's not technically Tuesday anymore, but this was my first official blog post and I'm really proud of it! Hope it still counts.. Haha :)
ReplyDeleteLate to sign up this week!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Pivot Point 30 minutes ago. I loved the two lives.... and Trevor. *Sigh*
Hooray! Always excited to hear about another person loving the A Song of Ice and Fire books :)
ReplyDeleteI like historical romance. I will have to take a look at some of these.
ReplyDeleteBelatedly signing in for this post since I wasn't able to participate a few weeks ago & I don't see too many movies, so couldn't contribute to todays. :) http://michelawalters.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/top-ten-tuesday-belated-post-best-books-of-2013/
