Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
There are just some books that leave you with such deep, intense feeling when you finish it for the first time. We've all experienced this at one time or another. The bad thing is, there's really no way we can go back and experience that feeling again, even with multiple rereadings. We already know what happens, if there are plot twists, a surprise ending, who the main characters ends up with , who dies, etc. Here are some books that leave me (Kelly) with these feelings of longing.
Top Ten Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time
- Harry Potter: okay, this one is obvious. I adore rereading this series (I do it once a year), but I will never experience that amazing feeling of reading about Harry for the first time.
- Sloppy Firsts: If you've read this series, you know exactly what I'm talking about. End of story.
- Innocent Traitor: This is an amazing historical fiction book that will leave you absolutely haunted when you finish it initially. Rereading it when you know what happens at the end just isn't the same.
- Falling Angels: almost an exact ditto to number four ^
- The Birth of Venus: I loved this book the first time around; I literally gushed about it everywhere I could. I picked it up recently and it was just...okay. I wish I could feel as passionately about it as I did the first time.
- A Tree Grows in Brooklyn: This is my number one favorite book of all time. There's nothing like reading a book for the first time that becomes your favorite immediately.
- The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings: A similar feeling to Harry Potter, though not as intense. Brilliant.
- The Hunger Games: So I may be cheating slightly on this one, since I just finished it, um...yesterday. I can't stop thinking about it and want to go back to the beginning.
So this TTT managed to sound much more depressing than I'd ever intended. :) Anyways, be sure to link up below and share your top ten picks!
Check out future Top Ten Tuesday Topics!
I definatly agree with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Would love to read both of these againReplyDelete
Im still yet to read The Hunger Games and Shiver but want to soon
Oh....I forgot to add A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I total agree with that book. I'd love to read it again the first time.ReplyDelete
Wow now you have me wanting to run and read Sloppy First! Very sneaky way of putting that in there ;)ReplyDelete
Great list, we have a few in common :) I feel like HP and HG are gonna be in most lists!
Great list! LOTR also made it on my list xDReplyDelete
I think we are going to see Harry Potter and The Hunger Games on a lot of lists. As for Sloppy Firsts, I might have to check that out.ReplyDelete
I wanted to include The Hunger Games on there, but I've only read the first! So I think I ought to finish the series first :PReplyDelete
I loved The Birth of Venus when I read it - it was also that much more enjoyable since I bought it while in Italy (at the Rome airport on the way back home). That's too bad that it didn't hold the same feeling the second time that you read it.ReplyDelete
And I really need to read Sloppy Firsts ASAP!

Shiver is also on my list! Harry Potter is totally one of the alltime greates series. But, I haven't read all of them yet. Awesome picks!ReplyDelete
HP and HG are both on my list this week! I really liked this week's topic, it made me so nostalgic!ReplyDelete
Harry Potter, I obviously agree with. It's definitely quite different the first time around!ReplyDelete
The Hobbit/Shiver are also on my list this week.
And I know what you mean about The Hunger Games - it's just so intense and thought-provoking that you kind of just want to relive that feeling all over again.
The Hunger Games and Harry Potter are definites! Fabulous list :)ReplyDelete
My Top Ten :)
This was a really fun Top Ten topic that I often think about, so thanks for the awesome topic! Harry Potter and The Hunger Games are also on my list! :)ReplyDelete
Sloppy Firsts. I love and adore you so, so much.ReplyDelete
You. Yes. You.
Great topic this week! :)
I completely forgot about the LOTR series! I love those books! I think the Hobbit is my favorite, but they're all so incredible :-)ReplyDelete
#8! This is on my TBR shelf and I'm so glad it is your favorite. I can't wait to get to it :)ReplyDelete
I keep hearing so many amazing things about The Hunger Games. I think I have to start reading that series.ReplyDelete
I have a book on my list that I finished Sunday that I want to re-read for the first time, too. Some books are just that good.
Ooh, Shiver, I loved that book two. Haven't heard about Sloppy Firsts.
There are a few books on your list I'll definitely be checking out.
Happy Top Ten Tuesday!
Hi ! It’s a pleasure to join you for the first time (if you agree my french participation) !ReplyDelete
And I have Harry Potter in common with you :).
I predict Harry will make most lists, he's on mine!ReplyDelete
Here's my top ten
I miss The Hunger Games :( I couldn't start reading anything else for like a day or two after I finished the last one because I was thinking about it so much.ReplyDelete
I go against the tide: HP said nothing to me (so much so that I stopped after book #1 and movie #2), so I'm not interested to reread it, least of all "again for the first time" :-)ReplyDelete
I have Outlander waiting for me on my shelf, so now I'm looking forward to read that for the first time!
I have A tree grows in Brooklyn and Outlander in my pile of books to read. Now I can't wait to read them.ReplyDelete
HP, THG and Shiver are on my list too. :)ReplyDelete
outlander! one of mine too! good picksReplyDelete
HP all the way! Who wouldn't have HP on their lists?ReplyDelete
Some of these are on my list. I didn't think of Innocent Traitor but I really enjoyed that book.ReplyDelete
Think Harry Potter & Hunger Games is going to be on most lists. So if you still haven't read them people, what are you waiting for?ReplyDelete
Thanks for hosting & sharing.
A pick for Hunger Games can never be cheating! And although Harry Potter might be the obvious choice, there's something to be said that these books will be on most people's list!ReplyDelete
Just linked up for the first time, up until now I've played along in my head.ReplyDelete
Okay, you really make me want to read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn...ReplyDelete
Fantastic list! I've got Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games, and Outlander on my list too. I still haven't read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn though it is a favorite of several people I know.ReplyDelete
It is sad when books don't move you the way they do the first time you read them. Thankfully I still love the Harry Potter books and get more out of each reread. The first time through Deathly Hallows especially, I kind of just read quickly to find out what happened so I missed out on little details.
Divergent, for me! That book sucked me right in, so much so that I stayed up most of the night and read it in one go. Would love to recapture that feeling!ReplyDelete
New to the MeMe; thanks for hosting! :)
Loved this TTT this week. Happy Tuesday everyone!ReplyDelete
Totally NOT cheating to re-read Hunger Games, even if you did just finish! There is nothing like the first tine you read a book!ReplyDelete
Hunger Games goes on my top 10 list too.ReplyDelete
Haha, I couldn't go without including Harry Potter. It's just one of those books that you can't help but wish you could read again for the first time. :PReplyDelete
Great list. :)
Harry Potter and The Hunger Games are a must on my list too. :)ReplyDelete
Love this list idea! So much fun to go back and think of the books I'd want to experience for the first time again. Harry Potter and The Hunger Games made my list too.ReplyDelete
I thought that Innocent Traitor was really hard to get through. I read probably the first 50 pages and I just couldn't finish it.ReplyDelete
I absolutely love this meme!ReplyDelete
Great idea! <3
After reading others TTT, I see a few new titles I want to add to my TBR pile! Thanks for doing this fantatic meme and hope to join up again!ReplyDelete
Quite a few of these are new to me - I'll be sure to savor them my first time around!ReplyDelete
Oh god, reading The Hunger Games for the first time... i wish!ReplyDelete
Great list! Harry Potter made mine too, but I forgot about Shiver. That said it is awesome the second and third times through so maybe I don't need to read again for the first time.ReplyDelete
HP is on my list, too. (: I've only read The Hobbit, not the rest of LotR, though I've always meant to. The Hunger Games is another one on my list! (:ReplyDelete
This is my favorite meme! It really gets me thinking about what I have read.ReplyDelete
I agree with you about The Hunger Games. Right after I got done reading it, I wanted to read it again!
We had several similar ones. I want to experience Hogwarts for the first time again too! That's sort of how it felt to go to Harry Potter in Universal.ReplyDelete
OMG you have SO MANY good ones on here! Besides Hunger Games, Harry Potter and Sloppy Firsts (squee!), you have some great ones that I didn't know other YA bloggers have read. Falling Angels, The Birth of Venus, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn... all so, so good. Great choices! :)ReplyDelete
I think HP is at the top of everyone's lists!ReplyDelete
HP and Lord of the Rings are at the top of my list too!ReplyDelete
I concur on Harry Potter and LOTR! It's funny you say that about Innocent Traitor because I went into it the first time knowing how it ended, but then I'm a Tudor history geek.ReplyDelete
first time linking to a top ten list here but found this by chance and could not resist.. And now have found a ton of books I have to yet read (so will really be reading them for the First time!) Thanks for this!ReplyDelete
I have never read "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," and I'm a native New Yorker who lived in Brooklyn for many years. Shame on me. I've also not read "Outlander," although I'm intrigued, nor "Sloppy Firsts," mostly because the name evokes pornography for me!ReplyDelete
Definitely Harry Potter, Anne of Green Gables, and the Secret Garden. :)ReplyDelete
Wow. You definitely have me adding to my TBR list! I'm right there with you on The Hunger Games; that was (and still is) my reaction to it. I can pick it up anytime! :)ReplyDelete
Agreed with Sloppy Firsts... it was a wonderful book, and if I could go back and experience it again I totally would.ReplyDelete
Hey! Great meme! Love it :)ReplyDelete
Space Station Mir: Oh, I went in knowing the history too (Tudor geek as well), but you never know how the author is going to make the ending play out -- it's still a surprise in some way!ReplyDelete
I get the Hunger Games, I couldn't stop thinking about the first book when I finished. Its that kind of book you can't get out of ur head. The Harry Potter I never read but I do like the movies, I might read the books but its not too likely. Not all the books I even heard of but some sound really good! ^^ I finished a good book a while ago, now i have to wait for the third one, O so tempting....ReplyDelete
thx for the great idea. love the Top Ten Tuesday ideas!ReplyDelete
I completely agree with Harry Potter!!! Every time I see someone who is reading it for the first time, I feel a little jealous. I would love to go back to how it felt to read them for the first time. I've now read them so many times that I have entire passages memorized. :) Ah, fond memories.ReplyDelete
... Now I want to read them again. *sigh*
I love this topic. Thank you!ReplyDelete
Outlander: Who wouldn't want to fall in love with Jamie again?
I'm going to check out Sloppy Firsts and see what the fuss is abut. ; )
love this topic and can't wait to read the review about nether parts. :)ReplyDelete
An awesome topic!!! Thanks! Bit late, but better late than never.ReplyDelete
