I can't handle the creepy kid factor EVER so this child who looks like she is levitating? TERRIFYING TO ME. I thought the book was going to be SCARY based on the cover but it was so strange and wonderful.
This just terrifies me. I'm like half expecting this chick to crawl at me like on The Ring or do some weird head spinning from The Exorcist.
Creeeeepy. Also sharp things + babies probs not a good idea.
I can't with the dead eyes.
WHY IS SHE DRESSED IN BLOOD. WHERE IS THE BLOOD COMING FROM? ALSO THAT BLOOD IS GOING TO BE A BITCH TO GET OUT OF YOUR PRETTY DRESS.
*gags* MAKE IT STOP

I used to have those Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books when I was a kid, and they terrified me! The cover definitely matches! Lol. I'm so not good with creepy stuff like that. All the covers are great, too, but I can't imagine the o ther books creeping me out as much :-P
I read one of the stories from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (I got the new edition, new images) to my 4 year old a week ago. BAD IDEA! He has been crying most nights since then... and keeps retelling the story to anyone who'll listen.
...at least he's bad at retelling it. Haha! He basically just says, "Where is my toe?" over and over.
Some of these book covers are seriously TERRIFYING. (Like the House of Dead Maids? Looks like I won't be sleeping tonight.) I'm looking forward to creeping through everyone's posts!
My TTT is a list of bookish costume ideas, in case anyone needs some last-minute ideas, ha!
The Bad Seed cover looks so effing creepy! Anna Dressed In Blood is a little creepy but it's definitely one of my favorites. I love the red against the whites and grays.
The only one I have read off of this list is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and I loved it. The sequel, Hollow City, was creepier to me. Thanks for sharing! Amanda
I can't deal with creepy children either ಠ_ಠ But I really wanted Miss Peregrine's to have creepy children but it didn't, so I was disappointed. I also can't deal with ghost women with long black hair in front of their faces, NO THANK YOU. I am forever scarred by all those damn movie. - Anette Reads
The Bad Seed is actually a black and white movie and it IS terrifying. I watched it as a teen. My library had it as their movie night last week and I refused to go. Lol. It was a good scary but I think once was enough.
Those are definitely creepy covers. I loved Scary Stories. I just bought the entire set, actually, because I never read the third book. My favorite was always the first one, because it has "The Hook."
These are some really creepy ones! I think the winners are The Bad Seed, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The House of Dead Mermaids, and that last one is one I would never want on my shelf. It is way too disturbing!
Daughters Unto Devils is SO GOOD (In fact, I just posted about it on my blog today!) I also really liked Before I Go To Sleep, which was also creepy, but in a psychological way.

ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping me up tonight! The House of Dead Maids may be the creepiest cover I have ever seen. My TTT

The scariest cover on your post - Before You Go to Sleep! The Bad Seed cover is also very creepy in a skin-crawling kind of way. Shudder.
ReplyDeleteThose are some pretty creepy covers! The only one I've read is Anna Dressed In Blood, very creepy read indeed! :)
ReplyDeleteSome very creepy covers - but particularly The House of Dead Maids!
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
