Julia's Top Ten Auto-Buy Authors
A little over a year ago, I wrote my Top Auto-Buy Romance Authors, so I will try not to repeat with this top ten, though all of the other authors still apply!
- Courtney Milan - She is one of my favorite new to me romance authors. Her books are always so creative and well researched, and even when I may not completely love them, I still love them (if that makes any sense).
Books I loved: A Kiss for Midwinter, The Duchess War, The Governess Affair - Beth Revis - It is no secret that I loved the Across the Universe series. I can't wait to see what world Revis builds for us next.
Books I loved: Across the Universe, A Million Suns, Shades of Earth - Kristen Callihan - I feel like all I do on this blog is gush about how much I love Kristen Callihan and her Darkest London series. It is just so inventive and emersive!
Books I loved: Firelight, Moonglow, Winterblaze - George R.R. Martin - Anyone who has read any of A Song of Ice and Fire I would ascertain has Martin as an auto-buy. How can you not when the books come out years apart
Books I loved: Game of Thrones, A Storm of Swords - Marissa Meyer - I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on Scarlet, the next in her steampunk-dystopian Fairy Tales series. It should be in my hands soon.
Books I loved: Cinder - Jennifer Ashley - I had heard of Ashley's books through a romance novel March madness tourney. I know sounds amazing right? And all the hype was worth it. Her Mackenzie's series is pretty great.
Books I loved: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, Lady Isabella's Scandelous Marriage - Meljean Brook - A great steampunk and sexy world. That is what she created. The second and third in her Iron Seas series have been on my to buy list for a while. So I guess its auto-buy... but I haven't bought them quite yet.
Books I loved:The Iron Duke - Eloisa James - Ever seen I was enraptured by one of her covers at the bookstore, I have not been able to resist her books. I eagerly gobble up every new installment. Books I loved: The Taming of Duke, When Beauty Tamed the Beast, Paris in Love
- Elizabeth Hoyt - My favorite series romance lies with Ms. Hoyt. Her characters jump off the page and suck me in. I can't resist a new one by her!
Books I loved: Scandalous Desires, To Taste Temptation, Thief of Shadows - Julia Quinn - Finally Ms. Quinn. Ever since I read her Bridgerton books in high school, I have been hooked on her humor. Every new one by her is read almost immediately.
Books I loved: On the Way to the Wedding, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, What Happens in London
I just couldn't help it toward the end there... I just had to include them. So who are your auto-buy authors? Who are we missing out on here!
Okay, I seriously need to read the Game of Thrones books. And finish the Across the Universe series. And read more adult romance! Awesome list, Julia - I'm going to have to check out some of these authors!
ReplyDeleteYay for Julia Quinn! She made my TTT list!, too -- as did Marissa Meyer (well, she made my second list!)
ReplyDeleteLove your diverse list!
ReplyDeleteWish I had thought to add Beth Revis. I'm so curious about what she'll write next, and I'm actually scared to read Shades of Earth.
Marissa Meyer is a new fave of mine too. And I've only read the Iron Duke by Meljean Brook but look forward to completing that series.
Marissa was ALMOST on my list too! I just finished Scarlet today. LOVED it!
ReplyDeleteMarissa Meyer is totally on my autobuy list too! Love everything I've read by her!
ReplyDeleteMarissa @ Rae Gun Ramblings
Marissa Meyer definitely makes my list as well. I haven't even read Scarlet yet, but after Cinder alone I'm ready to call her a favorite author.
ReplyDeleteomg i love julia quinn, courtney milan, kristen callihan, and elizabeth hoyt. some of my favorite romance authors. i haven't had a chance to read any jennifer ashley yet but it will go into the pile now. and love marissa meyer. great list!
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't read anything by Beth Revis yet *GASP* I feel like the last person on the earth to read that series, but I will one day. Promise!
ReplyDeleteMarissa Meyer is a great choice! I was so disappointed when I finished Scarlet because I have to wait a whole year to read the rest of Cinder's story.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if George R.R. Martin will write a whole new fantasy novel after Game of Thrones?
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Across the Universe series yet!
Great list :D
I too have Beth Revis in my top ten. I need more explosions in my life, stat!
ReplyDeleteWow I haven't heard about some of the authors on your list until now. It is probably because they are not published in my country. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have heard of many of those authors. Guess I have some research to do! Marissa Meyer is on my TBR list! Man I really need to get to that book! Thanks for hosting this!
ReplyDeleteI have a love / hate relationship with Eloisa James and Julia Quinn. One the one hand there are a few books that I love and then others just don't do it for me. I LOVE Elizabeth Hoyt.
ReplyDeleteJulia Quinn's books are great. Awesome list!
ReplyDeleteHere is my list: http://lifeasabookaddict.blogspot.com/2013/02/top-ten-tuesday-top-ten-authors-id-auto.html
Definitely agree with George R R Martin - I still have book 5 to read, but I'm hoping the wait for book 6 won't be as long!
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing great things about Cinder and Now scarlet so I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them. I have mixed thoughts about wanting to read the Game of Thrones series. (Also I apologise if my link shows up twice. Firefox decided to crash during processing the first time so I don't know if it actually worked the first time.)
ReplyDeleteBETH REVIS! Also on my list. Love love love love love. My first finished series. Ever. (Still reading Harry Potter, never read past half-way of Twilight... I finished The Hunger Games, but I need to find a good time to devour CF and M.)
ReplyDeleteLoved Cinder. Still too soon for me to know if Marissa Meyer will be an auto-buy.
I adore George R.R. Martin and Julia Quinn - both excellent writers!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, thanks for the book recs after each author!
ReplyDeleteI have books by Courtney Milan, Marissa Meier and Meljean Brook alrady on my kindle, and now, I really want to push them way up on my list of next books to read!
ReplyDeleteI love this week's question, and I had no problem at all getting 10 authors to fill out my own TTT this week!
oooh ever since I read the Iron Duke I've been meaning to read more of Meljean Brook. I'm sure the rest of her stuff is really good too!
ReplyDeleteI have read ZERO of your auto-buy books! I really need to read Cinder soon!
ReplyDeleteJulia, Marissa Meyer did not make my Top Ten list but she is fast becoming a favorite :D
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I only came up with five this time! I think my list has shrunk dramatically. I used to have at least a dozen must-buy authors, but I've really pared down my TBR lists in recent years to focus more specifically on books I love.
ReplyDeleteI love that I have not read ANY of the authors on your list! More to discover and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBeth Revis and Marissa Meyer aren't on my auto-buy list, but I've been really wanting to read their series. I hear they are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love Eloisa James' books! I haven't read one of hers that I didn't like.
ReplyDeleteI included Marissa Meyer on my list as well. MUST own anything she writes. I totally SHOULD have included Julia Quinn! I love her!
ReplyDeleteEms
My Top Ten
I haven't read most of the authors on your list, though I agree with George R.R. Martin. =)
ReplyDeleteOh man, Beth Revis and Marissa Mayer would be on my list too!
ReplyDeleteI love your list! Several of those were either on my list or on my original list that had to be cut down, haha. I actually love every single author on this list that I've read! Clearly, this means I should look up the others. Especially Meljean Brook. I've heard so many great things about her books.
ReplyDeleteYes, George R.R. Martin! I NEED to know what happens next! :-D
ReplyDeleteCourtney Milan is on my list too. Her books never let me down.
ReplyDeleteGreat list I couldn't do it this week I had to group my favorite ladies!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.abookishescape.com/2013/02/top-ten-tuesday-7.html
I LOVE the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I haven't read book five yet, but that's because those books are so exhausting to read...in a totally good way.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like ten new authors for me. kelley—the road goes ever ever on
ReplyDeleteMarissa Meyer was on my list too. Loved Cinder! I'll be buying Scarlet once I've got a few TBR books out of the way.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the other authors you listed, but I LOVE Marissa Meyer. CINDER was great and SCARLET is too (maybe better), so I really, really can't wait to see what Meyer does in the next book!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time participating in TTT, by the way. It's so fun :)
Nice list! I have to agree with Marissa Meyer and George R.R. Martin!
ReplyDeleteHere is my list =]
http://stegosaurusrawr.blogspot.com/2013/02/top-ten-authors-on-my-auto-buy-list_26.html
This was a much harder one to do than I thought it would be! And actually there are so many more, but because they are newer authors and only have a few books, I decided not to put them for now.
ReplyDeleteThis top 10 was much harder than I thought it would be!
ReplyDeleteBeth Revis is great! I almost put Marissa Meyer, but I had to choose between her and Leigh Bardugo. Again! Same thing happened when choosing my favorite book from 2012!
ReplyDeleteAcross the Universe! The book i could never get round to read:( I'm kind of stuck on only one author though who's on my ultimate Auto-buy list.
ReplyDeleteYou picked some awesome authors! and there are quite a few up there I havent heard of! Definitely going to check them out now!
ReplyDelete-Andy
@ Escape To New Worlds
I haven't read ANY of these. I know, right? Gotta get on that. Marissa Meyer's Cinder is on my list for next week.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT!
Marissa Meyer made it on my list. Absolutely loved Cinder and can't wait to read Scarlet too. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't come across any of the authors on your list so I hope to add a few of their books to my to-be-read pile!
ReplyDeleteOooo - some new authors I need to check out! Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteMeljean Brook is on my auto-buy list, too! Her steampunk romances are just... THE BEST. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteGreat picks - thanks for sharing!
Oh, I forgot Beth Revis :s
ReplyDeleteHere is my TTT
I've been meaning to get involved with this for weeks and this was a fun one to get started with.
ReplyDeleteI had to leave George R.R. Martin off my list because I wouldn't want him getting any ideas and writing other things when he needs to finish ASOIAF (though those are totally auto-buys).
ReplyDeleteI cant belive I haven't read any of those authors!
ReplyDeletewww.booknersjourney.blogspot.com
This was easier than I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteCompletely forgot about Marissa Meyer and George R.R. Martin, obviously they should be on the list. Brilliant picks.
ReplyDeleteI liked this theme, reminded me of some of my fave authors!
ReplyDeleteSO hard to choose, my god. Here's my list: http://birthofanewwitch.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/top-ten-tuesday-week-47/
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have not even read a single book out by these authors. Still an awesome list.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Tuesday post!
Sana @ artsy musings of a bibliophile
Kristen Callihan! I loved Firelight, and I'm so excited to read the other two books in the series! I'm also currently reading A Million Suns (after re-reading Across the Universe), and I can't believe I almost forgot how much I frexing love the way Beth Revis writes, and the world that she creates. So good! :D
ReplyDeleteI didn't put Beth Revis and Marissa Meyer on my list but they definitely would be if my list were longer!
ReplyDeleteI love Beth Revis!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love Marissa Meyer!
ReplyDeleteEmily @ Counting in Bookcases
Here is my list:

You know, I downloaded a sample of Game of Thrones to see what all the hubbub was about. MY nhubby swera by this series, but he doesn't often have good tast, always reading histry books. Dry, stuffy, boring. I love the Miniseries, but I think these books are just a little to long for me to really enjoy, so I'll stick with the show on HBO.
ReplyDeleteTammy @ http://bosbooknook.blogspot.com
Marissa Meyer is definitely on my list!
ReplyDeleteThe internet was being a stinker for me today, so it took me all day to write this post, and I still only came up with 8! (And 4 of them are dead). Here it is, at long last: http://worducopia.blogspot.com/2013/02/8-authors-id-read-anything-by.html
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes to George R. R. Martin and Marissa Meyer. I'm working through A Storm of Swords and I just finished Scarlet (still freaking out about that piece of amazingness).
ReplyDeleteSteampunk in a sexy world?? Sold!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! So many great authors out. :)
ReplyDeleteI did debate putting George R.R. Martin on but I've only read the first one (currently reading the 2nd) of Game of Thrones but I am loving it!
ReplyDeleteBut for me, my absolute, must-buy, don't-care-what-it's-about, favourite-author-ever is John Green. Could not love his books more.
I have got to get on the Game of Thrones bandwagon. Although I am not normally intimidated by page length, I have to admit that the heft of those books and the series in general has made me put off reading it.
ReplyDeleteFinally added myself to the TTT list!
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones is my weak spot, too. I have all of them, which makes their absence even more disgraceful. *hangs head in shame*
ReplyDelete
