Rating: 4.5 stars
What if you had only one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?
Samantha Kingston has it all: the world’s most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life.
Instead it turns out to be her last. Then she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact. Reliving her last day during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.
I read this book in one day. It was the Sunday after finals and I was worn out, so I decided to stay in bed all day and read. (It was a wonderful day!) I wasn’t sure at first what to think of this book. I started off absolutely hating Samantha. She was so selfish. She did things that were downright cruel and thought that it was the right thing to do, as if it was her job to do those things because she was popular. Then her life takes a turn, rather literally. I watched as she went from that unlikable character to a character that I genuinely liked.
It was a bit of an emotional roller coaster to read. The author really drew me in, I was experiencing all of the events of the book right along with Samantha, the ups and the downs. I finished the book feeling rather satisfied. I was surprised by the ending, but pleased. I’m really not sure what else I can tell you about the book, it’s one of those that you have to read to experience for yourself. The author has such a unique way of capturing true human emotions that you can’t help but be sucked into the book!
Overall, it was a Sunday well spent. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy YA, or are looking for a book with really excellent character development.
