Ten Books We Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn't Get To

For future TTT topics, click here.

Starting next week, January 16th, Top Ten Tuesday will be moved to Jana's blog, That Artsy Reader Girl. Jana has the schedule of future topics up through May!

This week we're talking about the books we'd planned on reading in 2017 but never got to for one reason or another. But it's a new year and we've still got all the days to read them!

Jana's Picks:

1. The rest of the Harry Potter series. I've only read book #1, but am on Chamber of Secrets right now!

2. Charing Cross Road 84 by Helene Hanff - It sounds so sweet, and my book club read this this year but I got really sick and didn't get a chance to read it in time for the meeting. Has anyone read this one?

3. All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda - I've heard great things, and I love mysteries like this one!

Lori's Picks:

4. The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead - I know it's a 2016 release, but I meant to get to it in 2017 too and just didn't. I started it, but then for whatever dumb reason--probably got busy with school--I put it down. It's definitely on tap for this year. Promise!

5. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng - I got this for my Book of the Month pick and just didn't get to it. Everyone I've seen who's read it has loved it. Definitely need to pick up this year.

6. Goodbye, Vitamin by Rachel Khong - This was another BOTM pick that I've heard so many great things about and that I just didn't get to. It's not a terribly long read and the character should be somewhat relatable since we're around the same age...

Daisy's Picks:

7. Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas - though I'm a bit less excited about this installment, it's still [art of one of my favourite series and I really need to read this.

8. The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May - I'm DYING to know how it ends, really want to re-read the first two books though.

Julia's Picks:

9. The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman - I totally meant to not only read this, but reread the entire His Dark Materials series

10. Literally all the books... by all the authors - I think 2017 was the least that I have read in years. Like maybe even under 20 books. I am too afraid to count...

Which books are you making a priority for 2018?

  1. Thanks for hosting Top Ten Tuesday these many years, ladies. It's been an amazing meme to hang out with and meet new bloggers.

... and thank you, Jana, for taking on this meme so we can continue to enjoy it and chat with each other each week.

Hope you all enjoy the books you missed reading in 2017! :)

  2. Once you start Harry Potter, it's generally hard to stop!

  3. At first I was bummed that you guys wouldn't be hosting Top Ten Tuesday anymore (especially since this is the first time I've actually linked up!), but I'm glad it will continue on in another place.

I have a couple of Megan Miranda books on my "To Read" list. I've read/heard mixed reviews about them, but I'll still check them out at some point.

Little Fires Everywhere made my list as well. Lucky for me, I've already checked it out from the library and plan to start it today. :-)

I hope you all find time for the books you want to read this year!

  4. 84 Charing Cross Road is highly enjoyable, as is the movie based on it. I recommend both!

Thanks for such a fun run!

  5. Definitely down with that last one! Lol!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. I haven't read most of these, but La Belle Sauvage was the last book I read in 2017, and I highly recommend it! I had my doubts, but it was at least almost as good as His Dark Materials!

  7. Harry Potter is on my list too :P

And thank you ladies for hosting such an interesting meme for all these years :)

  8. Your #10 is so much truth! Hope things are okay for you to not be able to host anymore. Hopefully we still get to see you around the blogosphere!

  9. Little Fires Everywhere made my list this week, too. =)

Thanks so much for hosting this every week, it's been so much fun!

  10. I failed at reading a lot of these, too. I especially need to get to The Underground Railroad and Little Fires Everywhere. I hope you guys get a chance to read all these!

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  12. I started re-reading the HP series this year and only got to the first two books although I was hoping to finish all of them in 2017. I guess we can keep working on it in 2018!

  13. Thank you for hosting TTT for so many years. It's been fun to join in, sometimes weekly, sometimes just occasionally. Best of luck to you all, and thanks to Jana for agreeing to host going forward.

I'm re-listening to the HP books for the umpteenth time. And 84 Charing Cross Road is on my list to read someday, but I doubt it will be this year. We'll see. I'm behind on a lot of ARCs, and need to catch up on them first.

  14. So glad to be able to participate with you on the last TTT you guys host. Wish you all the best in the future, and hope to hear from you all from time to time.

  15. I've read 84 Charing Cross Road about four times and it's one of my all-time favourite books. It's super short, very light and you just won't be able to read it without smiling. It's so lovely and charming :)
