Top Ten Authors Jamie Would Like To See On A Reality Show

This week was scheduled to be Top Ten Authors I'd Like To See On A Reality Show but I got a lot of feedback about how HARD it was...so maybe not as good as an idea as I initially thought! SO..I opened it up as a Freebie Week but I decided to stick with the topic!

1. John Green -- I'd love to see John Green on Survivor! As king of the nerds, he'd show all the nerdy/geeky guys who have come on this show to show everyone that it's more about brains than brawn (and then FAIL to do so), how it's done! He'd be charming, entertaining to watch and somehow I think he'd be pretty cunning at the game while also proving you don't have to be a total douchenugget. OR he and Hank on the Amazing Race! BRILLIANT!! Somebody sign them up!

2. Maureen Johnson: Maureen just deserves her own reality show. THE MAUREEN SHOW. It'd be awesome.

3 & 4:  Stephanie Perkins & Kiersten White: I'd love to see the two of these authors on The Amazing Race together! I love peeping on some of their witty Twitter banter but they seem like they would have a good time! Also, I've met Stephanie and SHE IS HILARIOUS...so it would prove to be very good tv!

5. Beth Revis: I don't have a reality show in mind per se but it'd have to be something where you get to vote people out and be ripping out people's hearts while doing so. I learned, while at a tour stop for Breathless Reads, that Beth really loves killing off characters and laughing while doing so. SO, she'd be hilarious to watch because she's oh so sweet but she'd have no problem voting your ass off!

6. Kirsten Hubbard: I'd love to see her on her own reality show that is somewhat in line with Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations but a little more adventurous and fun. She's a world traveler and I'd love to watch a travel adventure show from someone who is around my age!

7. Megan McCafferty: Again, don't have a specific show but she cracks me up and she's super entertaining and I'd root for her until the end!

8. Tahereh Mafi: I LOVE HER. She is so adorable and hilarious and I would love to hear her commentary about the other contestants/houseguests and the general state of whatever reality show she was on. It would make me laugh.

9 & 10: Jonathan Safran Foer & Nicole Krauss:  I would love to see two of my favorite authors  (who happen to be married!) be on the Amazing  Race! I don't really know what their personalities are like but I'd sure like to watch!

  2. Your list is hysterical. I need to go find all these guys on twitter, I already love their books. I'm clueless with reality shows so I had to do the free for all and I did my favorite YA picks that boys would like too. Thanks for the fun.

  3. YES to Maureen Johnson and Tahereh Mafi! I also think Kirsten Hubbard needs her own travel show. That'd pretty much make my life.

  4. This topic was a lot harder than I thought! You picked some awesome authors!!! When I first read this topic I was ecstatic and already had a ton of authors in mind of who I wanted to see in a Reality TV show! But I had a REALLY hard time coming up with shows to put them in!!!

After doing A LOT of brainstorming I came up with my list and I'm satisfied. I'd love to do this topic again...but not in the very near future. Hehehehe

  5. I don't know ANY of these authors! *Failure as an English major*

  6. Wow I am impressed that you stuck with it! High Five! I had to go with the Freebie due to all the Author Drama that has been going on. I have to say I have been disappointed in how Authors have acted this year, but that is neither here or there since we aren't talking about it. lol
I decided to do my My Top Ten on Reformed Rakes! Hope you enjoy.

  7. This was our first try... (new bloggers here!) And we don't watch much reality TV. But here goes nothing! We love a challenge that demands creativity like this one. So fun, and we can't wait to participate in future Tuesdays!

  8. This was such a fun topic! I knew exactly who I'd want for nine out of ten of the reality TV shows instantly!

And John Green on Survivor definitely sounds like a great pick!

  10. Haha, funnily enough, the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this week's prompt was 'OMG, Maureen Johnson would be AWESOME on her own show!' Someone should definitely make that happen.

  13. Just reading John Green's Tumblr makes me agree that he would be a good choice on almost any reality show--he's super smart and funny! Your choices were great. :) I went for something different this week, since I was having a hard time choosing authors for television: good books, evil characters.

  16. That's why I went with the freebie - my whole list would be compromised of all the various TV shows Maureen Johnson could host. Except now that I think about it, I kind of want to make that list.

    ANYWAY, fab list, Jamie!

  22. I did a whole entire Amazing Race line up, and we have some of the same authors in the list! Wouldn't that be fun if it could really happen? And btw, I thought the topic was on the easy side this go around! LOL.

  23. This one was tricky. But that is the point of a challenge, no?

I put all my authors on the same show: "The Mole". First season example only. :P

Thanks for hosting! This is fun.

  28. So funny! I came to put my link and read your top 10 and we have two of the same! I have John Green but added Hank on that one with him. I also had Kiersten White and Stephenie Perkins and we have almost the exact same reason for why. Crazy!

  41. I took a stab at the freebie and connected it to my joining The Classics Club and compiling a 5 year reading plan. Used this post to focus on the 10 books for this year. Looking forward to reading everyone else even though I'm a bit late.

  42. I added mine! This is fun to share something other than book blogs :) Great choice!!
