In no particular order...
1. Oliver Wood from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This might have more to do with him being played by a really foxy actor in the movie, but I rather like him. I wish his character had been more fleshed out.
2. Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With the Wind. I have a total girl crush on her. I think that she's just captivating.
3. Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. His stoicism and honor are totally sexy.
4. Buddy Threadgoode from Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. Again, this might be because the actor who played him is totally foxy (Chris O'Donnell) and again, his character was not very fleshed out.
5. Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind. I don't even need to explain this.
6. Chennault from The Rum Diary. Another girl crush. She's so free and cool.
7. Jack Whitman from Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Not only was the actor who played him in the film attractive, he sounds totally hot from the book's description too. He's tender and he plays music and he dances....
8. Stu Redman from The Stand. I read the book way before I saw the movie. I thought he sounded fantastic from the novel because he's definitely a man's man and is really brave. Then I saw the movie with Gary Sinise and OMG!
9. Robert Jordan from For Whom the Bell Tolls. I think his bravery and determination to do the right thing is hot. But I think it might be safer to say I have a thing for Hemingway...
10. Jesse Tuck from Tuck Everlasting. I think he has some really romantic lines. And he seems to care for and accept Winnie as she is.
Hmmm...a lot of these I have a crush on because a film adaptation pushed me over the edge. The film helped give me a visual for a character I already liked. I'm OK with that.
What about you?
I have not met a lot of these guys! I better jot them down and get reading. ;)
ReplyDeleteTotally with you on Atticus Finch! Love him! :D Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
heck yay Oliver Wood! I haven't thought of him in a while but totally haha
ReplyDeleteMarissa @ Rae Gun Ramblings
Hi, yes, Jesse Tuck is totally on my list too! I freaking loved him, even though he was SO STUPID in thinking that Winnie would be able to wait like decades and centuries even for him to come back. Crazy. But loved him so much.
ReplyDeleteYou know I wanted to include Oliver Wood...but I wasn't sure if that would be cheating. Then again I included John Thornton from North and South since Richard Armitage was flawless as that character, so maybe I should have.
ReplyDeleteGreat list Lori!
JESSE! OOH I LOVE HIM! The guy who played him in the movie was amazing, too.
ReplyDeleteI love your list! Classics and contemporary, nice mix. :)
You can't be a book nerd without some serious book crushes :-) Great list! Love the choice of Oliver Wood and Jesse Tuck.
ReplyDeleteChelsea @ Starbucks & Books Obsession
Well, we didn't have any in common, but three of mine were from Cassandra Clare's books... I just have them on the brain and my lists ten to reflect that. I totally agree with Atticus and Oliver, though! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Here's mine:

I wouldn't have thought to include Oliver Wood, but I agree he's great for this list! I'd definitely have included him.
ReplyDeleteI love that you included Oliver Wood in your list, and yes he is totally sexy in the Harry Potter movies.
ReplyDeleteOliver Wood! What a guy! =)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think of Oliver!!! Ahhhh! Great choices though!!!
ReplyDeleteOliver!! I didnt think of him either but I totally get that! I don't know most of yours but I am sure they are delicious!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I would never have thought of Oliver from Harry Potter. Nice to see some oldie but goodies on the list!!
ReplyDeleteLots of fan girling going on today!
ReplyDeleteI had/have a MAJOR crush on Oliver Wood (Sean Biggerstaff) from the movies. When he showed up on screen, I was like, Oh man, Oliver Wood is HOT? It's like when I watched Lord of the Rings and Legolas (Orlando Bloom) was so beautiful that I immediately read the books and re-read Legolas scenes, imagining Orlando Bloom as Legolas. Hahaha.

ReplyDeleteGreat list Lori!
ReplyDeleteHere's my list - TTT @ Krista's Dust Jacket
Oh my gosh yes, Buddy Threadgoode. I totally wanted to add him to my list after seeing him listed here. Love him even if he is short lived in the story.
ReplyDeleteSilly linkie list. Meh.
ReplyDeleteGood list! I did not expect anyone to be crushing on Scarlett O'Hara...I'm in awe that you are crushing on her...I can't stand the lady. Great list though! All crush worthy. ^.^

http://www.caroleraesramblings.com/2013/04/top-ten-tuesday-hopeless-crushes.html
ohmygods I totally forgot Oliver Wood! The movie Oliver is hot and the book Oliver is hilarious. I love both! :)
ReplyDeleteJulie @ Books and Insomnia
I can't believe I didn't think of girl crushes! I totally agree about Oliver, and Charlie Weasley made my list for the same reason- except for the movie part, because he totally got cut out of the movies. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about Oliver Wood. I put Neville because I thought in the last movies he was quite good looking too. :P
ReplyDeleteHaha! Stu from THE STAND was the very first character that came to my mind when I saw the topic today :) Also, I love Oliver Wood (in the movie) as well.
ReplyDeleteYay! I love looking at everybody's list! Here's mine: (how do I figure out the html for the link? Sorry, I have jurassic internet skills.)

Added my list! Thanks so much for having Top Ten Tuesdays!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, Oliver Wood is a great but surprising choice - immediately catches the eye :) I was also contemplating a girl crush on my list (Asha from Hannah Harrington's Speechless), but ended up sticking with the guys. Love these choices.
ReplyDeleteI like that you included your girl crushes too. kelley—the road goes ever ever on
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought of Atticus Finch, but I definitely agree!
ReplyDeleteI had Oliver Wood on my list until I realized it was only the movie Oliver Wood I was into haha.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of half the guys/girls on that list!
ReplyDeleteAlthough Oliver Wood is indeed an interesting choice, I wouldn't mind him at all
Here is my list
I think it's safe to say I only really watch the Gone With the Wind movie because of Rhett Butler. Clark Gable as Rhett Butler = perfection.
ReplyDeleteMy last book crush was Graeme Montomery from Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks. The way he was so sweet and protective of Emeline and communicated with her was so romantic. Plus I've always had a thing for Sottish men (Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle anyone?:))
ReplyDeleteGreat list!! Here's mine:

Great list! I also love Atticus Finch and Chennault!

Eva @ All Books Considered
Why Haven't I heard of many of these! I like Atticus Finch more as a father figure though, there's just something stopping me from thinking about him in a sexy way. Oh and Oliver Wood, he is rather dashing in the movie! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten!
I was absolutely IN LOVE with Oliver Wood in the first 2 Harry Potter movies! I was so bummed that he didn't get more screen time.
ReplyDeleteOliver Wood's #1 on my list, too!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.

Atticus Finch is awesome. Good choices. I liked them.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see so many different kinds of characters! Nice list!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - Oliver Wood *swoons* Someone who, when the first film came out, make me check their age to make sure my lusting wasn't illegal ;-)
ReplyDeleteAhh so many to choose from, I love looking at everyone's lists and seeing more characters I also love. (And I can't wait to read Just One Day because looks like I'm in store for another fictional crush...)
ReplyDeleteGreat list!!!!Top Ten Tuesdays is an amazing challenge. But believe me when I say that I had a hard time picking up!!!I believe I did something wrong and I'm not sure if my link was saved,so here's the link to my list:http://bookladysreviews.blogspot.com/2013/04/top-ten-tuesday-1.html
ReplyDeleteHappy reading to everyone!!
This was so much fun to do!
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot about Jesse Tuck! I loved him and I loved that book! :)
ReplyDeletePhew, I really went to town on that one, I've been writing for hours in a total state of over-excitement. I'm actually quite pleased with myself; I thought I was going to be wall-to-wall physically attractive characters, but I actually proved myself less shallow than I thought.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I agree with your original post - attractive actors in film adaptations can definitely tip the balance.
Oliver Wood??? I totally forgot about him! I am seriously so embarrassed right now. He was the BEST. Especially after I watched the movie. Immediately afterwards, I went to reread all his scenes. Totally wish he was more prominent in the series too! Love your list! :)
ReplyDeleteWoo I had girl crushes on my list too!
ReplyDeleteOliver Wood! I agree! :D
ReplyDeletewww.booknerdsjourney.blogspot.com
Ooh Oliver Wood is a very good choice! (And the actor is so handsome.)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Oliver Wood also - how could I miss him!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I've read any of these! I've read Harry Potter, and seen Gone with the Wind, but other than that....not really.
ReplyDeleteNice list! I like the girl crushes ;)
Oh Oliver Wood in that movie was just plain hot... wish there was more of him! I love your Scarlet O'Hara crush, I haven't read it yet but I completely agree based on the movie!
ReplyDeleteOliver Wood in the movie was just plain hot... I wish there was more of him in both. I love your Scarlett O'Hara... haven't read the book yet but based on the movie I completely agree!
ReplyDeleteSorry if I posted that comment twice... it always looks like it doesn't work when openid makes me log in on a different after I hit publish.
ReplyDeleteOLIVER WOOD, YES, YES, YES!
ReplyDeleteI just have linked. I am starting a new blog, or something similar, and I wanted to add this wonderful section.
ReplyDeleteI'm Spanish, I'm sorry for the bad English
My crush on Oliver Wood is definitely because of the movie-wish he could have had a bigger role.
ReplyDeleteHello! I just joined the link widget. Will it automatically include me every week, or do I need to add myself each time?
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, now I've managed to add myself twice. Sorry guys! Dx
DeleteAtticus Finch, definitely.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would love to join in on the fun... may I be added to the list please?
I'm new to blogging and just added myself to the links. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I often think about going back and reviewing books that I read and loved before I started writing reviews...but I'm lazy.
ReplyDeleteI just started using your meme and added myself to the link.
ReplyDeleteenders game is a good one. that definitely had a surprise ending.
ReplyDeleteWow, are you sure we aren't the same person!?! Your crushes are almost the same as mine =D
