Lori's Pick
1. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman: This kind of book normally isn't my thing, but I've heard such wonderful things about the third book! I feel weird just reading the last book of the series, so I'll have to push through the first two. Haha.
Jana's Picks
2. The Fire and Thorns Trilogy by Rae Carson
3. Lucky Harbor Series by Jill Shalvis
I don't really have anything to say about them except that people love them and I think they sound awesome!

Kimberly's Picks
4. The Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella: I've heard so many good things, and I love Sophie Kinsella. I think I even own the first book. I just haven't started it yet.
5. Anything Terry Pratchett: I feel terrible that I haven't read any of his stuff! My husband isn't the bookworm that I am, and even he has read Pratchett!!
6. The Program by Suzanne Young: I've actually read the first book, but haven't continued on to the rest. I liked it! I just haven't picked up the others yet.
Jamie's Picks
7. The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater: Every since I started blogging in 2010 I have meant to read this series (I even own them) but still have not even read the first book! OOPS.
8. Shades of Magic series by Victoria Schwab: I hear amaaaazing things about this series and own the first two books but haven't gotten to them yet. STORY OF MY LIFE.
9. Heir Chronicles AND Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima: A friend gave me the whole Heir Chronicles series and I keep meaning to reading but ALSO everyone who is a fan of this author says the Seven Realms series is their FAVE so I keep meaning to grab that from the library.
10. The Selection series by Kiera Cass: Everyone I know talks about how this series is the ultimate book crack that you can just binge right through. I think I'm defintitely going to binge this while I'm out on maternity leave.
What series have you been meaning to start? Have you read any of the ones we haven't started?
Jamie, I'm with you on the Shades of Magic series! I often feel like the only person in the blogosphere who hasn't read it. I WILL SOMEDAY, I PROMISE. Oh, Kimberly, you absolutely must try Terry Pratchett soon!! He's my all-time favorite author by a long shot.

The Heir Chronicles made my list too! So many series, so little time:)!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the Shades of Magic either and really want to!
ReplyDeleteTotally binge read The Selection Series. IMO, the series should have stopped at book 3.
ReplyDeleteI want to read The Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella.
ReplyDeleteI am such a fan of Shalvis and Lucky Harbor is one of my faves. It may have been my gateway Shalvis series. Fire and Thorns is another of my faves, because, well Rae Carson. I have read all the Shopaholic books. The earlier ones are better, but I will still read read all the Becky books. Kinsella amuses me. Shades of Magic is fantastic, and I did enjoy the Selection, with the first arc being stronger than the second, but all still good. Great list!

I read "His Dark Materials" a while ago, and unfortunately while the plot is really interesting Pullman's writing style always bores me!
ReplyDeleteOOh nice picks! Some new to me ones but I loved The Wolves of Mercy series!!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
His dark materials is great, especially the first book in the series.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Tuesday @ Engrossed in a good book
I haven't read any of those series yet, either! I have The Wolves of Mercy Falls series on my list, too. Ah, I forgot about the Selection series. That's another one!

I loved His Dark Materials when I was a kid. I need to reread it now that I’m an adult. I really liked the first two Shades of Magic books. I haven’t read the third one yet. I hope you guys get a chance to read all these!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I loved the Lucky Harbor series! It was so cute! I hope you get to it soon.
ReplyDeleteHis Dark Materials is AMAZING. And you definitely need the backstory from the first two books for the third to make real sense
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Selection series. Also...I've read the first book in the Shopaholic series and thought it was a light and fun summer read. I have the second book in the series on my COYER summer reading list. I hope you enjoy all of these when you get around to them!!

I've only read one Pratchett, years ago, and I'm ashamed I haven't read more! I've also read the first Shopaholic and the first in Darker Shade of Magic. Both were really good, but my kryptonite appears to be reading the first book and not finishing the series. :P
ReplyDeleteThe big one for me has to be the New Jedi Order in the Star Wars universe. This is the series I really, really need to buckle down and just read already.
I adore Rae Carson's Gold Seer trilogy and really want to read the Fire and Thorns one as well. Great selection!
ReplyDeleteSome of those sound great! The only series on there that I have read is the Shopaholic series; I loved it although the last couple of books were a little out there, but Kinsella redeemed herself with the last book in the series! I highly recommend you read it :)
ReplyDeleteLori, I have read His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, although I seem to have had a very different experience to those who have been recommending it to you. As I absolutely loved the first and second book, but was disappointed by the third book!
ReplyDeleteShades of Magic made my list too. And I still need to finish The Program Series.

I loved the first book in the Shopaholic series but I think I gave up after book three or four. One of those series where I feel they should maybe have stopped. Shades is brilliant but I'm not sure I would rush to read the Selection (although that's possibly just me)
ReplyDeleteI have a story about His Dark Materials...I tried reading them in high school and then again in college and just didn't get it. I tried them as an adult and loved them. I'm glad I stuck with it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm super curious about Pratchett's work. I listened to Dodger via SYNC and found it entertaining. I know he write a more light-hearted fantasy/sci-fic and after listening to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I do want to give his stuff a shot.
