I'm...Bekka, you're right about video games. I'm totally not against them as a whole. I do not approve of young children (or anyone, really) playing the shoot-em-up blood and guts games, especially in place of reading. I'm a reading teacher in an elementary school, and I always hear the excuse, "I was too busy playing games to do my homework." I know there are some great ones out there, and I've been known to waste a few hours playing them myself. I just know there's a lot of people who get so addicted that their life becomes the game, and they don't do anything else to cultivate their minds. Thanks for allowing me to clarify my thoughts. :)

I think I'm with you, Lisa. If I did not know how awesome reading was, I'm not sure I'd break the law to find out. I'm a major chicken! On the other hand, Bekka's point rings true in my mind. I always love to know what all the fuss is about. I'm curious, but cautious. Ooo... tough question.Janahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01772938036847330151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-6691213340100254652011-04-27T17:02:02.685-04:002011-04-27T17:02:02.685-04:00Love the images - especially the very first one! ...Love the images - especially the very first one!

I'm not much of a rebel so if I grew up in a world where reading was outlawed I don't know that I would have the daring to seek out illegal books, although if I were introduced to them by someone else in such a society, I am sure I would discover the underground ways to pursue literacy.lisa :)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11429572773434109490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-864508494184395282011-04-27T14:13:43.748-04:002011-04-27T14:13:43.748-04:00I would definitely be one of those law breakers. ...I would definitely be one of those law breakers. If people are so adamantly against something, I have to know why!

I also want to come to the defense of video games. Have you ever played a 100 hour RPG? There is so much creativity and raw, organic story-telling put into games now. There are games where every choice you make has a consequence-these kinds of games feed critical thought, just like reading.

Great post!Bekkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17940606116740260845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-29204846450125493142011-04-27T14:10:12.167-04:002011-04-27T14:10:12.167-04:00Great question and I love these adverts.
