Most only read around five of the books of the fifteen I preselected. I start second guessing myself this time a year as people start talking about books I haven't even heard of before. Who do you like for the Printz this year?Anne@HeadFullofBookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01069558006454986084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-73843351617932034842014-01-18T09:19:39.914-05:002014-01-18T09:19:39.914-05:00Hi Sarah! They're always made at the American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting. Here is the ALA's page on the Newbery: http://www.ala.org/alsc/awardsgrants/bookmedia/newberymedal/newberymedal

If you have kids who really enjoy the Newbery books, maybe you could do a Mock Newbery activity for next year. Basically you all read books that are getting a lot of praise and talk about them, then choose a winner and honor books. If you do an online search, you should find plenty of instruction on how to conduct one.Tahleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10330160603781228707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-77913385820402639162014-01-17T22:53:36.054-05:002014-01-17T22:53:36.054-05:00When do they makes these announcements? They keep asking me when the next one comes out and I can't answer them. Also is there a list of contenders? I've followed the Newbery and Caldecott since the 1950s and have occasionally guessed a book that showed up in the honor list. I guessed Hugo Cabret but it won the Caldecott instead. Close though.

I'm looking forward eagerly to your posts. Mary Ronan Drewhttp://maryslibrary.typepad.com/noreply@blogger.com
