I read it in year at school, when I was 13, and even though I didn't get all the allegories, I loved the story.

Then when I did my GCSEs, I studied Russian history and just found it fascinating. When I re-read Animal Farm I loved it even more. Each time I read it, I notice another link to that period. I love Communist history, so I'm definitely biased towards this book!Sam (Tiny Library)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16375434438465319913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-58460074187981893102010-09-30T10:00:01.969-04:002010-09-30T10:00:01.969-04:00Thanks for the thoughts and the link! It is difficult to provide a political message and still tell an interesting story and Orwell does both quite well.Peggy Trytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16073589011373336013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-30016737301533192642010-09-30T01:03:20.154-04:002010-09-30T01:03:20.154-04:00I didn't appreciate this book when I had to re...I didn't appreciate this book when I had to read it for school but it is a great read.

I enjoy your blog and I am passing on the Versatile Blogger Award.
http://bookdout.wordpress.com/2010/09/30/my-first-award/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-39389884986632491092010-09-29T23:22:03.793-04:002010-09-29T23:22:03.793-04:00I had to read (and analyze) this two years in a ro...I had to read (and analyze) this two years in a row, in 8th and 9th grade. I hated it then, but I'm not sure why. I suppose I should probably read it again sometime. I've also read 1984, which is totally my kind of book, but which got pretty boring at points. I definitely didn't know some of this stuff about Animal Farm, thoughNatanyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03338681853586855206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-22241262572565967512010-09-29T20:12:44.683-04:002010-09-29T20:12:44.683-04:00I read this book when I was way too young to fully...I read this book when I was way too young to fully appreciate all the implications (I think I was maybe 11?) Anyway the whole Russian allegory kind of went over my head...I think it was explained to me but I had zero interest in Russian history, lol. Animal Farm quite disturbed me even without that parallel, though, especially the ending. It's been so long since I've read it, I wonder how I would react now...danyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07947267082874389487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-51079606300039195062010-09-29T18:47:40.727-04:002010-09-29T18:47:40.727-04:00I really need to read this book. When Boxer was taken away to the "veterinarian" I cried. Really you'd think they'd allow the book out there and go in public talking about how awful it is that such governments exist and how wonderful it is their regime isn't like that. It seems like that would be a far more successful strategy.
Nice post!Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16456600806188531803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-9285628175494484512010-09-29T15:56:09.478-04:002010-09-29T15:56:09.478-04:00Don't underestimate yourself, you did a great ...Don't underestimate yourself, you did a great job.
