YPU won, but I think I'll read Million Little Pieces shortly after and weigh my review with yours.Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04765818961868868617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-90230633152665004452011-02-06T20:15:30.773-05:002011-02-06T20:15:30.773-05:00I hate it when you can't get the Oprah sticker...I hate it when you can't get the Oprah sticker off the book!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-37875836785262212342011-02-06T17:48:07.433-05:002011-02-06T17:48:07.433-05:00I haven't read this one yet, but I did read My...I haven't read this one yet, but I did read My Friend Leonard, and I actually really liked that one.

And his writing style is really weird and confusing at times.Samhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15909018393122599017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-77637906615442527712011-02-06T12:26:46.626-05:002011-02-06T12:26:46.626-05:00(cough, cough) I do that too - peel the Oprah stic...(cough, cough) I do that too - peel the Oprah stickers off of the few OBC books that I've read in public. Agree about the last page - I was such an emotional wreck at the end of it. My Friend Leonard was really good, but I actually liked A Million Little Pieces better. I think it was the messed up love story that sucked me into the first one.Short Story Slorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09139511411002760755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-36482903240656910012011-02-05T17:11:36.970-05:002011-02-05T17:11:36.970-05:00I didn't know much about the controversy surro...I didn't know much about the controversy surrounding this book when I read it (other than there was some sort of controversy) and I rather sort of enjoyed it. Once I had finished and looked into everything I liked it a lot less, though. I like to keep my opinion of it as it was as I was reading-- I found it interesting, and while not the best book I've read it still drew me in.

As for the quotations thing, that totally annoyed me (at least for a while) too. I think that can either really add to, or really take away from a book and in this case I'm not sure it worked all the time--sometimes, yes, but.. not all the time (but with a book like The Road I think the lack of quotation goes along with the story really well).mirryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01340387335900694256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-87535149262675776382011-02-05T16:41:37.598-05:002011-02-05T16:41:37.598-05:00This was assigned reading in a course I took about...This was assigned reading in a course I took about Oprah (her book club, image, affect on business & culture, etc.--actually more academic than you may think) and I couldn't finish it. To me, it was bizarre and just not very well written or even a bit appealing. Frey has been doing a lot of horrible things to the book industry, like recently recruiting college students to write books under alias names for little money so he can profit. He's honest about the things he does, but that doesn't make me feel any better about him. The Leonard book is a good story, but I really have no respect for Frey. And with or without A Million Little Pieces being completely true, I agree that is still only a "3" in the ratings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345948308406299194.post-26788793801207857942011-02-05T16:29:21.322-05:002011-02-05T16:29:21.322-05:00I bought this 2 weeks ago and I have heard of it s...I bought this 2 weeks ago and I have heard of it since it appears at Oprah book club list.

Sorry to hear that it is a meh read.
