Paula Video Reviews the MaddAddam Trilogy

Hey all - I couldn't quite put all my feelings into a text post... so I made a video review for one of my favorite series: The MaddAddam Trilogy by Margaret Atwood. Check it out below! Since it is about an entire series- I tried to keep it vague and spoiler free- but I did have to mention one or two things in order to make my review coherent (nothing that can't be found on a back of the book blerb though) - so here is your heads up.

If you don't feel like watching a video- my elevator speech review is: I am a fiend for matching bookshelves... and I ignored my paperback copies of books one and two and raced to buy the hardcover of book three because I was so excited to read it when it came out. Great dystopian and apocalyptic series by the talented Margaret Atwood.

Oryx and Crake  5 stars
The Year of The Flood 5 Stars
MaddAddam 4 Stars

Have you read the series? I would love to hear what you think about it! Happy Reading!

  1. I've known of this series for a while but have yet to start it. For some reason Margaret Atwood seems daunting to me cause I was a young teenager when I tried to read Handmaids Tale and it went over my head. I'm 38 now so perhaps I need to give her another chance.

    1. Oryx and Crake was 4.99 on Kindle so I snapped it up right after this post.:) That's in Canadian dollars so I'm sure it's cheaper on amazon.com.

  2. I am glad to hear that you liked this book! I haven't heard too much about this series, but the little I have heard is good. I need to sit down and read this series. :)

  3. I just recently read the first book (Oryx and Crake) for my English class. We had lit circles on it, so I got to discuss with a bunch of other people that also picked this book, and I honestly can't think of a better book to read as a group. It was so good! There's so much in it, often other people in my group would catch little details that made a huge difference that I would miss, and vice versa. There's so much to think about with the book and it was so fascinating to read.

  4. Perfect timing for this video as I literally just finished MaddAddam! Such an amazing trilogy, glad you enjoyed it too! All three books are so different yet feed into each other so beautifully. Definitely recommended.

  5. This is one of my favorite dystopian series too - Atwood's stories have some brilliant but terrifying stuff! I liked Year of the Flood better than Oryx and Crake, but they both were incredible. I haven't read MaddAddam yet, but I will be reading it very soon!
