Broke and Bookish Book Haul for 6/23 - 7/6

Jen's Book Haul

*all books from the library

Someday, Someday, Maybe byy Lauren Graham: I've loved Lauren Graham since her days in Gilmore Girls. When I heard she was writing a book I immediately added it to my TBR list in Goodreads and have been impatiently waiting for it to be my turn on my library's waiting list. I am so excited to read it!

Golden by Jessi Kirby: I honestly don't even know what this book is about but I've heard nothing but fantastic things about it so I decided to request from the library.

Daisy's Book Haul

Egalleys for review:
-The Fairest of Them All by Carolyn Turgeon: What if Rapunzel was Snow White's evil stepmother? With a tagline like that, do I really need more encouragement??
-Doon by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon: I cannot WAIT to read this!! Seriously, it sounds so good!
-Consume by Melissa Darnell: while I have some minor issues with this series, the ending of the last book left me staring and I can't wait to see what happens in this conclusion of the series!!
-The Social Code by Sadie Hayes: it sounds like Gossip Girl and all of my other favourite shows all rolled into one :)

Bought/gifted:
-De Stoel van God (The Chair of God) by Paul Brand: my lovely colleagues gifted me this book on my last day at work because they are awesome and know of my reading obsession. It's about a boy with cystic fibrosis in his final stage of the disease. This will be heartbreaking.
-Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Jill Mansell: LOVE JILL MANSELL!!
-The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead: the lovely Judith @ Paper Riot sent me this book because she is awesome! Thank you Judith!!
-The White Glove War by Katie Crouch: I've been meaning to read this for a while now, I really enjoyed The Magnolia League!
-My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent: I bought it because it was a bargain during The Book Depository's day of bargains. I might give it away, because I've already read it and it doesn't match my other covers...
-Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo: already read and OMG I LOVED IT!!! ALL THE FEELINGS! And now I finally understand all of you raving about Sturmhond!!
-Star Cursed by Jessica Spotswood: so I haven't read the first book in this series yet, but it sounds REALLY good! Even though I'm kinda bummed they changed the cover and now my books don't match :(
-Tarnish by Katherine Longshore: I've been PINING for this book!! And it will be read VERY SOON! AAAH!

And then I went a little crazy at an AMAZING book sale!!

-The Alchemy of Forever by Avery Williams: hardcover, hooray!
-Gentlemen & Players by Joanne Harris
-Delirium by Lauren Oliver: yes I already own the other version of this, but I've always liked this cover much better than the one with the girl!
-The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell: I feel that as a Sex & the City fan, I should read this.
-The Year My Sister Got Lucky by Aimee Friedman
-Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters by Ben H. Winters
-Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
-The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley
-Stolen by Lucy Christopher
-Sunshine by Robin McKinley
-The Soldier by Grace Burrowes
-Grave Secret by Charlaine Harris: and then I got home and discovered it was the 4th book in the series... Crap.
The Italian Woman by Jean Plaidy
-The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory
-The King's Secret Matter by Jean Plaidy
-The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory
-Getting Over Garrett Delaney by Abby McDonald
-A Blight of Mages by Karen Miller: it totally made me laugh that this is a 0.5 book in a series, it's HUGE and even bigger than the first book in the series :)
-City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
-The Crushes by Pamela Wells: and got home to discover it was the 2nd book in the series... I've ordered the first one because it sounds so cute :)
-The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg: EEEE! Have been wanting to read this for AGES!
-The Sworn by Gail Z. Martin
-Fall of Giants by Ken Follett
-A little book with cocktail recipes :)
-Who I Kissed by Janet Gurtler
-Illuminated by Erica Orloff
-The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley: SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS BOOK!!
-Mariana by Susanna Kearsley
-Circle of Fire by Michelle Zink: yeah, I totally own all the books in this series and haven't read a single one of them...
-The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory

So people stared... I'm just happy staring at all my shiny books :)

Our Broke & Bookish book haul is inspired by memes like IMM & Stacking the Shelves & Mailbox Monday. This is just our very simple way of doing it collaboratively so we can participate in all of them and not have to choose one.

  1. Wow, wish I'd been at that book sale...or maybe not, I don't know if I'd have room for that many! Great haul!

  3. Someday, Someday Maybe looks really great, even though I was too young to be a fan of Gilmore Girls when it was on. (Is it on Netflix?) I've requested books based on people's recs, even though I had no clue what they're about. I've heard that Golden is great, as well. The Catastrophic History of You and Me is supposed to be awesome.

    Happy Reading!

  6. The Winter Sea is so cool! In fact, I'd kind of forgotten about it 'til now, but I might read it again this summer. Great choices.... I'm more than a little jealous.
