Kelly's Book Haul

How can ANYTHING possibly compare to what Daisy got? I'm jealous! My haul is 90% historical fiction, a genre I've found myself wandering away from recently even though it's one of my favorites.

Bought
I was able to go to my favorite used book store where you can bring in your own books and trade them in for store credit. Surprisingly, I picked up very little!
-Crank by Ellen Hopkins -
-The Virgin Blue by Tracy Chevalier
-Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant
-By Royal Decree by Kate Emerson - one of my favorite HF authors. Also, cover lust!
-Athenais by Lisa Hilton - a biography of a mistress of Louis XIV. Random pick up!
-The Queen's Dollmaker by Christine Trent - another of my favorite authors!

From the Library
Sadly, I don't work right around the corner from the library anymore so I don't go there as often anymore. I did borrow Graceling by Kristin Cashore on my Kindle though! It's not really grabbing me so far :\

For Review
The Chalice by Nancy Bilyeau - the second of a historical mystery series.
Lady of Ashes by Christine Trent - the first in a historical mystery series! :)

Our Broke & Bookish book haul is inspired by memes like IMM & Stacking the Shelves& Mailbox Monday. This is just our very simple way of doing it collaboratively so we can participate in all of them and not have to choose one.

  1. Revolution is a wonderful book that left me absolutely raw. I had an obsession with Louis Capet myself when I was Andi's age.

I read the book in one day in preparation for a book club meeting at the store. It's probably good that I was rushed, as it was so emotional, if I had put it down I might not have had the courage to pick it up again.

  2. Weather Witch is one I can't wait to try! Revolution is SO good! WOW! Born of Illusion sounds very interesting! I'll have to check that one too I think! Happy reading!

  7. Daisy - that's quite a haul...HarperTeen LOVES you! I requested most of those books but haven't gotten a yes or no yet. I'm leaning towards "no" lol since I've seen everyone else be approved. Also, I love the little Mexican dolls...when I was in Mexico City I bought one for my daughter. :)

Kelly - I hope you enjoy Crank...it's one of my favorite books, and what made me fall in love with Ellen Hopkins' style of writing!

    Enjoy your books, ladies!! :)

    Bree :)
